Stupid sculptures

A year or so ago, Joe and I went to Soverign House, but on the way there, we passed the Traffic Light Tree on Heron Quay. I must abmit we sat at the roundabout for a minute or 2 trying to work out what the damn thing was trying to tell us.

A gadget I will NOT be buying

Of all the useless devices the SMS kettle really does take the biscuit.

For a start you have to fill the thing with water, and it’s only a kettle not a teasmade, so after you have sent the text message “switch on” to the kettle you then have to check if it has boiled, and then pour out the water onto the beverage of your choice.

Couple that with the fact that I don’t have mobile coverage at home the SMS kettle appears to be the biggest waste of time this week.

Darpa Grand Challenge

Well, the Darpa Grand Challenge 2005 kicks off today. Anyone remember last year when no-one managed to complete the course? In fact no-one managed to come close to completing the course.
23 out of the original 195 teams are set to run the “race” this year – 10 hours to complete the 240km course, including a human-built obstacle course.

Personally, I’m waiting for Burnout: The Revenge – I think it’ll be more interesting. 🙂

More interesting test

English Genius
You scored 92% Beginner, 100% Intermediate, 93% Advanced, and 80% Expert! You did so extremely well, even I can’t find a word to describe your excellence! You have the uncommon intelligence necessary to understand things that most people don’t. You have an extensive vocabulary, and you’re not afraid to use it properly!
Way to go!

Thank you so much for taking my test. I hope you enjoyed it!

New Toys!

I’ve just added a couple of new machines to my computer museum…
The one I’m really excited about is the Commodore CBM 4032 museum/DSC00082.jpg

The other is an Hewlett Packard 85, which I know nothing at all about, so some research has to be done there. Apparently Rhys Parry used to sell them though.

And I’ve now put up a gallery to hold photos of all the machines I have in the museum, so when time permits I’ll take more photos, and put them up in that gallery.

Painless transfer

Migrate users on the mac is just so easy – all my documents and applications have now been copied across to the tiny box that is the Mac mini.

If you thought that the shuttle was small – take a look at the two together.

Lost!

I got hooked on Lost on channel 4, and bought the Season 1 DVD box set from CD Wow
Last night we watched the final episode (well, the last 3 actually) and the cliff hangers are really evil… I just hope that season 2 will be out soon – of course they’re still showing something like Episode 9 on Channel 4 in the UK, so it’s going to be a while before we season 2 on telly over here 🙁
